Manchester to Inverness via Loch Ness and the Northwest Highlands!!

Hi!!!

We have made it back to Inverness after safely navigating our way through the Northwest Highlands: Scenery which inspired Tolkein's Lord of the Rings. Aboslutely amazing expanses of water and massive mountains! We could not see the tops of some of them for the clouds but we could vaguley see their outlines. Just brilliant. Stopped a fair few times along the way to take in the view and to explore off road sights. E.g. Moos Cave: Massive cave with an even more massive waterfall, about 3 times the size and 3 times more powerful than Natural Bridge waterfall. Required navigation across fast flowing stream to get there but Danny helped me and am so glad I did!!! What a sight!!

Last night we stayed in some old train carriages which was SO much fun!!! Our '1st Class dorms' (built in the 1st class carriages) still had rows of three seats in them from the train and the lights were the overhead lights like you see in aeroplanes!! SO cool!!!

Stayed at Invergarry the night before that, the next day driving along the entire length of Loch Ness (checking out Urquart Castle) along the way. So interesting. I am learining so much on this trip..

A few days previous: Motherwell. Cristie became very unwell at Motherwell and had to stay home on our day of exploring Glasgow. Poor thing. She is still quite unwell and is only just starting to eat properly again. She has been very quiet in the back seat (semi-quarantined)... In Motherwell: Geraldine was an AMAZING host, filling us with 3 course breakfasts and huge dinners, and packing our lunch for the drive the day we left. She took us into Glasgow and we joined up with her brother and sister who spent the day with us. We felt so special to have them spend their entire Saturday with us! Saw some great sights in Glasgow, including Pollock House, the Burrell Collection, the University of Glasgow, and many sights in the city. Geraldine took us out for a huge Italian meal that night (Cristie was too unwell to come).. WOW. We were SO full!! Thanks so much Geraldine! We really appreciated your hospitality!

OK. SO now we're at Inverness, heading down towards Edinburgh over the next 2 days, where we will stay with Lucas and then head south to London to meet up with Martha, Ellie and Jordan, and Nicole in there somewhere too!! SO EXCITING!! Planning to meet up with Ali and Aaron Glover too which I am VERY excited about!

Thanks again for your comments!! Love to you all!

Were there any rats in the old train compartments!? hahaha....you would hear screams and shrills all over the place if there were any! Hope the car is holding up good, it has to, its a new car! Hows the driving skills coming along? Have a great time in edinburg! and enjoy your drive!!
