Edinburgh and some EXCITING news!!
Hi all!
Thanks for your comments (was so good to hear from you Jade!). OK. So we made our way from Inverness down to Braemar (mountainous ski field country) where we slept in log cabin type accom. Next day was a leisurely drive down to Edinburgh (yes, Nishan the car and the driver are doing well =) A bit grubby but we're definitely not paying ridiculous pounds to have it cleaned... maybe I should read the conditions of leasing before we take it back though?...
NOW: to get to the exviting bit: as we were driving merrily through the winding roads of the Scottish mountains, I receievd a VERY exciting phone call from Ellie informing me that Jordan had proposed to her on her mystery trip with him to Austria!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for the both of them and eagerly look forward to seeing them when we arrive back in London. I always knew the end of this year would be the point past which massive change would occur in both my own life and Ellie's, and as has been ilustrated, this is the start of some very massive changes in the Lambert house!!! All I can say is WOW... and eagerly look forward to what is to come!!!
SO here we are at Edinburgh, staying in the VERY elite Fettes College with Lucas. WOW. This school is amazing. It was opened in 1870 so has far more history than any school I have ever set foot in. It's buildings are not unlike those we have stopped to take pictures of as we drive the streets of some of the very old towns throughout Scotland. Simply amazing, and to think that kids actually spend their days here is kinda surreal. We are staying with Lucas, who lives in one of the 'houses' (more like castle) on the school grounds. Lucas (in addition to a full time teaching load) is the in-house tutor for this particular house. As such, he lives in a very spacious section of the top floor of this building (and thankfully for us our timing is perfect as we arrived 2 days after the boys went home for the holidays and 3 days before Lucas goes on holidays himself). Thus, we have the whole house-castle to ourselves! It is GREAT. We haven't had this much room to spread our belongings in since we left home!
Tonight Lucas has gone out so we have overtaken the place and are enjoying playing cards, watching 10 Things I Hate About You and catching up on a few things (e.g. emailing, blogging and doing laundry!)... We spent today exploring Edinburgh Castle, which sits regally on a mountain of rock in the centre of the city. Quite an amazing sight. We saw the Scottish crown jewels and the firing of the canon at 1pm. Also walked the Royal mile to Holyroodhouse Palace, the place where many royals have stayed over the centuries, and the place where her majesty stays when she visits Edinburgh. All very interesting!
Another piece of exciting news is: this morning I was offered an amazing OT position at a hospital where I had a really challenging yet enjoyable prac experience. I was thrilled and honoured. I have a bit to think about re: such an offer, so good that I have a fair few driving hours to do it!
OK. Will now try and upload some photos for you all to see what we've been up to.
Love to you all. Anisia xoxo
