Me and my bike...

This is for the benefit of those still checking my very poorly tended blog.... Thanks for your dedication!!

I am once again atthe hospital library using the free internet. I am here all week for intensive training which is very interesting and teaching me so much my head is ready to explode!

I am also sitting here because I am waiting for my extraordinary flatmate Jo to pick me up... She is driving me whilst I (and my bike) recover from our 'incident' yesterday.

Note: when riding on footpaths, watch for outcoming traffic.

This is how it went:

Anisia riding for pleasure after riding home from work and dumping bag at home.
Anisia riding along the river/kangaroo point cliffs, soaking up the serenity.
Anisia riding on her downhill run toward home when: BANG!!!
Anisia hits vehicle just pulled out from driveway, driver looking in opposite direction to see where he could slot into very heavy traffic.
Anisia tried hard to brake but hit the car anyway, hitting the handlebars on the way through.
Result: two corked thighs (with multicoloured bruising) and a semi-corked elbow, buckled back(?!) tyre, big dent in side of man's car/bonnet...
Positives: could have been MUCH worse!!! no blood at all! Just bruises to my body and a bit to my confidence!!

This event has brought forth two events which has built my confidence in the general public:

1. The guy whose car I hit just called me to see how I was and make sure the bike was ok!!! The car is being handled by the company he works for so no worries there.

2. Upon seeing my difficulty wheeling the bike with buckled wheel, a fellow bike ridfer (Adam) stopped to see if he coul dhelp. He then disengaged the brakes which made wheeling so much easier, explained the process of re-shaping the wheel and where I could take it to get it done, and then explained/demonstrated how to take the wheel off. Thanks Adam!!! Interesting timing considering Pastor Stelzer's message on Sunday was based on the story of the good Samaritan.. =)

SO in summary, I am FINE. God certainly had his eye on me!! BIG thanks to Him....I have learned an immense amount from the whole experience..

BIG thanks to Jo for being my supportive flatmate who cooked me dinner, uncorked a bottle of champagne and is being my chauffer whilst recovery takes place. What a woman!

Poor, bruised Bunny :( I have a multicoloured bruise too, from banging my hip on the communion rail! Churches are deadly...:P SO glad to hear you are safe and that there was no bleeding AND that it didn't put you back a stack of dollars. Very nice of the man to call you AND Adam. I love it when you meet kind strangers. Doesn't happen that often, but it should, there are lots of nice people in the world, we just have a snobby attitude towards people we don't know.
Well ride safe and send Jo a thanks from me :)
Love Ellie

The "pulling out of the driveway" accident can happen so easily.
Glad to hear that you "only" have bruises and dented pride!
You know how to pick your victims obviously.
Take care.

still checking your blog regularly ;-), that does sound like a bad experience with the best possible outcome, I'm glad nothing worse happened!
By the way, yesterday I booked my flight to Australia, meaning I will definitely come visit you and Jo in your new apartment, am very excited! I'll probably be around Brisbane/Gold Coast from the 18th or 19th of December until after Christmas and then again, probably, after January 6th.
