This is how it goes
HOKAY, so, as most of you will be aware, Jo and I are keenly awaiting a response from the owner of the unit we put an application in for. It is a little 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit at Kangaroo Point...

Above is map of its location (blue circle) in relation to the city (where it says BRISBANE)... My work is at the northern end of Brunswick St, so yes, I would be able to walk or ride to work...! HOWEVER, we are yet to be approved (mind you, ours was the first and only application and has gone to the owner so we're feeling quite hopeful)... so I will hold back on telling you more about it until we know for sure. When I know, I'll be able to give you a move in date and address details!!
I was thinking about how different it is going to be to call a place other than 19 Mitchell Avenue my 'home'... This house and our house in Berri are all I've pretty much known (plus Ashmore Palms Caravan Park and Heritage Green in between, but you get what I mean)...
Over the past few months, I have slowly been cleaning out my wardrobes, sorting out my belongings and packing boxes, all the stuff you do when you have to move... I have taken the approach of doing it over a long length of time so that I can gradually get used to the idea that my stuff won't be in that room anymore... My shelves in the corner have been dismantled, and my bookshelf and desk emptied. Lifeline did well out of my old clothing. I found a collection of my old toys at the back of a hard to reach cupboard (e.g. strawberry shortcake, cabbage patch dolls, rag doll made by mum). They brought back pleasant childhood memories... I packed that stuff in a few boxes that I labelled clearly with "To stay at mum and dad's house" for future years when "peanuts" (hopefully) might be able to develop similar memories about them as what I have.
When mum and dad got their new bed the other day, I was helping dad and watching him tighten all the appropriate screws to hold it all together... I stood there watching, remembering when I bought my bed... my first purchase with the money I made at McDonalds ($5.40/hour)... and me helping dad put it together all those years ago... Soon we will be dismantling that same bed and moving it on to its new home.
There are so many things that I'll miss about living here. First and foremost is mum and dad. That's a given. however, i also know that it's well and truly time for me to move forward and establish myself apart from them. I'm very excited about it, yes, but at the same time it's a change that might take a little bit of getting used to.
Apart from mum and dad and all that they provide me with here (love you both!!! xoxox), there are a number of other things I will sadly part with:
Bike rides to the Broadwater
Walks around the perimeter of Crestwood (my own 'forest' escape)
Church family at Living Word
Coffee at Crestwood Zaraffas (and almost every GJs)
Walks on the beach
Plus many other places that, all put together, have become my 'hub' on the Coast.
There is one thing I will be very glad to part with:
4:50am wake-up with 70 minute train trip to work each morning (I will however, miss my train buddies: Sandra (my morning buddy), Ruby, Elly, Veronica and Erica (my afternoon buddies). We've had some great times on the train, as much as that might surprise many of you. These ones are classic and have made the daily trip so much more bearable! Thankyou all! I might just have to catch the train for 'fun' during peak hour (uurrgghhh!!) just to say HI!
There are plenty of things I am looking forward to that come with a move to Brisbane:
More time in my day for Anisia-land things (e.g. bike rides, walks, reading, friends, etc).
Establishing a new church life and church family, especially being part of a small group again.
Closer proximity to friends who by some means have almost all ended up in the Brisbane and surrounding areas!!
Finding new and exciting locations to become part of my 'hub' (e.g. fruit and vegie markets, bakery, cafes, quiet time places... etc).
Hosting dinner parties and sleepovers!
...Plus heaps more that will come into being as time progresses... for now, I like letting my mind wander =)
So that's 'how it goes' at the moment in the land of Anisia. Rest assured I will let you know when we are approved to move into the unit (and if not that one, then whatever other one we find!).

Hey Anisia! Not sure if Ellie told you, but I'm moving to Sydney next week, so if I posted a blog it would be nearly identical to yours! The moving, leaving home, leaving the coast, leaving the familiar, starting afresh.. But you can visit home more often than me. Anyway best of luck with it, have my fingers crossed for the unit. And if you're ever in Sydney, my door is always open! Take care!
Love Sarah.

That is so exciting!
You know, even though I've now moved a couple of times, I still haven't packed up my bedroom at Mum & Dad's house. I guess I have a vague idea I could move back there some day.

Hey Bunny-wa-wa-waaaah,
This is all terribly exciting and very very sad. We love our house here but I keep wondering when I'll move back home? When will I have the colourful room again? When will I have to drop Dad off to school again or be made to set the table by Mum?! And then there's your room...you mean I won't be able to just flop down on your bed next time I'm there and procrastinate? Sad times, but yes, exciting...
Finding your own way around, discovering back streets and ways 'home', sorting out insurance and paying rent, meeting your new neighbours, having Mum and Dad around to YOURS - all trivial things but so very exciting, and it only happens once.
We must make sure we visit Mum and Dad's as much as possible - goodness knows they will have room :D
I look forward to being a guest in your house -I know you'll take good care of me/us :D (And we can eat naughties and I can steal condensed milk from your cupboard instead of Mum and Dad's...mwahaha).
Love you lots and look forward to seeing you in Sydney. Not long now!!! :D
