Wild at Heart
I will agree with Ellie's poignant comment about blogs being so precious because people "write as if no one is listening and hope that everyone is". Nice one...
I'd like to share a poignant comment of my own which I discovered after re-reading Wild at Heart by John Eldredge (I first read it about 2.5 years ago). It's a book about "Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul": cheesy sounding, I know,... and quite possibly you say: not another men's self-help book... But here's where you're wrong. This book will send you on a journey from beginning to end and I would recommend it to absolutely ANYONE, male or female, at whatever stage of life you're in.
I have drawn so much from it that I need to re-read it a third time to really take it all on board... I also think I will re-read it at future points in my life because it speaks to me where I'm at right now... which will be a different place all together in another 2.5 years time.
Of the MANY statements that I like in the book, one stands out for me the most:
"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that because what the world needs is people who have come alive"
-Gil Bailie
This world is full of so many "things"... "things" that we can fill our time and energy with.... "things" that we can look busy doing and think are the right things for us, but when we look at them closely and the way they weave into our lives, they don't make us really come alive...
"What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his soul?"
Mark 8:36
I'm all up for weaving new, exciting "bring-me-to-life" things in my life. It may take a while, but I'm focused on getting there with the Source of all life leading me all the way.
