Making our way from LA to LV

SO... we finally make it to LA, knowing full well that we had missed our connecting flight to Las Vegas by about 2.5 hours... Air New Zealand told us they were sorting it out while we were in the air. Unfortunately 2 other Jumbos landed at the same time as ours... picture the mayhem of 1200 people trying to get through customs, picking up baggage, and about 200 of them confused about when their connecting flights were rescheduled for. We were part of the 200 and joined the 'connecting flight' line which wasn't moving very fast. Made friends with 2 Aussies from Sydney who were on their way to Vegas for their honeymoon... Brooke, the woman was an extremely assertive character and managed to find out that the line we were in was pretty useless and that we would be better off making our way to the 'united' terminal... So off we trek. Finally made it. Line up was massive, as expected. Assertive Brooke goes to special check in counter and gets her and her husband on the 4:30 flight with the "we're on our honeymoon" speel. I was not so fortunate, and although i tried, the lady sent me back to the pleb line... ended up missing the flight and re-booked on a 6:30 flight. It was good to finally know that we were on target at last!

Exchanged some money. Poor exchange rate. My $120 turned into something much less than that which was disappointing... but this will be the same story for the rest of the trip (except Turkey and Thailand, gotta save some luggage space for those ones!!)



Made my first purchase in America! A Starbucks coffee! It was super tasty! Danny was disappointed in his- asked for an iced coffee and got exactly that: coffee with ice... hehehehe! It woke him up though!

Sat in the lounge waiting for our flight... this is me doing it "LA style" (don't ask me what it is, I think it's the gangster look from downtown)













...and me with an LA postcard and Boomeroo, given to me by Maureen. He's attached to my backpack so is enjoying the good life =)

OK. Now to go to a new post for Las Vegas excitement!!!
